Here you stood together, your hands clasped loosely but secure. There wasn’t much time left, yet the moment felt endless. It was as if everything that existed before was now obsolete. All humankind’s triumphs, and every one of its catastrophes. All the shining moments a child looked up into her mother’s eyes and found assurance. Each small grace of a flower opening its petals to the sun. Whenever someone betrayed another and every time someone found the courage to be forgiven. The whole of human existence in a flash, but one without end. All the bloody, brutal and raw beauty of our presence.
You looked downward as a voice cracked the pause.
“Are you ready?”
“I think so”, you said. The words gave you strength.
“OK, Let’s begin”
You took the capsule in your hand and opened your mouth, tasting the metal in the air. You swallowed it.
Then, you, the last living creatures left, smiled at each other and closed your eyes.
Like what I’m doing here? Let me know by suggesting it to someone else that may like it. Not into this song? Stick around for the next one, it may be what you didn’t know you needed! Remember, there are only two genres of music here at SERMONS!: good and bad, and I have to much to do to waste time on bad music.
In the spirit of The Family Dog in Haight-Ashbury who once said - "May the baby Jesus shut your mouth and open your mind" - thank you, Jamie, for sharing your psychedelic sermon.
