Rarely do I post a video versus a song, but there’s no clear link to a good version of this song that I can find. It’s taken from the great video compilation 12 O’Clock High but was also featured on the Dusted album.
Makes sense that no one has posted a clean version of it (*see update below) because I don’t know who actually listens to Live Skull, but lemme tell ya’ something: Live Skull were really good.
Is this the sound of the end of NYC rock?
Controversial, I know. But I’d rather listen to this, or Swans, or early White Zombie than The Strokes, or Yeah Yeah Yeahs, or whoever else was clogging up the bathroom stall hitting key bumps.
Way more real. Way more dangerous. Way more apocalyptic. I guess both scenes reflect the moment surrounding them, though. And I prefer the moment of grit and grime, I guess.
There’s a lot of feeling in this song, and if you’re of a particular age, I’m sure you’ll recognize that; a feeling without proper words.
*I was thwarted by search goblins but then found this version, after posting. Weird though, I really searched before.
Like what what’s going on here? Bombs away in the comments!
Not into this song? Stick around for the next one, it may be what you didn’t know you needed! Remember, there are only two genres of music here at SERMONS!: good and bad, and I have too much to do to waste time on bad music.
