The cold, wet northern air bites deep into my bones. Plumes of condensation escape with every one of my strained exhales. The war has been long and hard fought, with each battle a new extreme in slaughter and savagery. My men are tired, their bellies are empty and I can see that for many if combat doesn’t take them, the dire conditions soon will.
I call to my seer.
“Pray tell, what do the fates see at this time of such confusion and anguish? Do we achieve success in our campaign or do we meet our ancestors in the halls of Valhalla?”
The seer produces her small pouch, pulls out the small deer bones and casts them to the damp mud as her eyes roll back in a head and she emits a low and long growl.
“The campaign will go to plan. It’s an auspicious time. A frail king will fall, and a new kingdom will arise. Destiny has deemed it so. The gods smile upon you.”
I am washed over by renewed vigor, my soul suddenly surging with the electric energy of rebirth. I grasp the hilt of my sword and go to my commanders.
“She has seen victory. Gather up your men, tell them of this news and prepare them, for tomorrow we march and claim our destiny!”
And thus began the Battle of San Dimas, brought to you by Live Nation, in partnership with T-Mobile and Arbys™.
