Hello internet pals of music. Today ‘s song is a slinky earworm of outsider psychedelic soul funk with one of the wildest guitar solos you will ever hear.
I figure that sometimes these things can be confusing. Maybe you need a bit more allure to convert you from reader to listener.
I love when a record like this appears. One that existed somewhere in the void but only in small circles of mystery and legend, or was simply just stacked away inside an attic.
I know that Doug Hream Blunt didn’t learn to play an instrument until he was in his 30s, which he learned through an evening music class called something like, How to Start a Band. Also, he performed mostly for the patients of the hospital where he worked.
But I just got that off of his website. I don’t really know much else, except that I can’t stop listening to this song. I listened to it maybe five times while writing this, but I swear every time I’ve listened to it for the past month or so I’ve listened to it five times.

I often say I just wanna hear something that I’ve never heard before and this is like nothing I’ve ever heard before. It’s spacey, it’s punchy, it’s smooth. And contains not only one of the strangest, oddly sublime guitar solos you may ever hear but also a chorus that is bizarre, bawdy and brilliant. I heard this song knowing nothing about any of this. I think it should be as joyous and confusing as it was for me the first time you hear it, if you don’t already know it.
Can you name any time molten lava looked bad on an album cover? Or even appeared on one?
*EPILOGUE
There’s more. There’s always more.
Here’s an appearance on public access TV, with the rest of the band supporting him. They’re other students of the music class.
