Hello internet pals of music. Let’s start the week with this little boogie from Canned Heat’s 1969 45 RPM about the moon. Let’s go lunar.
Sneaky moon.
Sitting up there looking over us at night, hiding from us in the day.
I wonder if the moon feels neglected, now that the planetary overlords have set their sights on Mars. Whitey’s still on the moon though.

I didn’t know this Canned Heat song until I was standing in line to pick up some fried chicken from a place that I often feel like is the best I can do ‘round these parts (but will never fully satisfy this Texan). Whomever made their playlist, if not an algorithm, did a nice job and I’d like to think that they buried that gem in there for the one or two people like me that might perk their ears and stepped up to the counter to ask the staff who was playing. It was perfect to hear; I’ve been digging deeper into Canned Heat lately and discovering there was more to them than “On The Road Again” and “Going Up the Country”.
That’s how it should be with music, fuck the elitism. People helping people help people helping people.

I always think of Stereolab when I hear Canned Heat.
