Hello internet pals of music. Today we’re listening to a jumping tune by the legendary Sudanese singer who was tragically murdered in 1994.
Unintentionally, it turns out fitting to recommend this song on the day Teenage Head guitarist Gord Lewis was pronounced dead, and his adult son charged with second-degree murder.
The rumour mill suggests his son struggled with mental health issues. Let’s leave the speculation for now, though. In the moment, it’s a fresh tragedy; Teenage Head, an outstanding live band, was scheduled to play an outdoor festival next month.

Khojali Osman was also murdered, not by his own flesh & blood but a religious zealot possessed by blind ideology. But he was declared insane and served no sentence. The nation went into deep mourning because Osman was so well loved. In 1994 that kind of extremism, and the violence of the individual fanatic didn’t produce quite the familiarity it does now.
Music can transcend power, and it can transcend tragedy. Grieve the tragedy, celebrate the achievement.
