There are going to be more changes coming in April here at SERMONS!, so while the happy little elves that work their happy little elf magic (nay, goblins) bang their hammers into the nails of the new, improved newsletter, the next few rounds are going to be simple, to the point.
The world is wild right now. But it’s always been wild. My favourite part of The Maysles Brothers documentary Gimme Shelter is Mick Jagger, facing the brutish sea of violence before him, urging everyone to just cool out, as if he’s talking to a meeting of housemates at a stodgy co-op who are arguing over who isn’t pulling their weight on chores. Their studio recording of this song would never have the full weight it does without Merry Clayton’s devastating background vocal, which plenty has been written about.
Anyway, it gets heavier. It always gets heavier with people who know how heavy life can actually be.

Not into this song? Stick around for the next one, it may be what you didn’t know you needed! Remember, there are only two genres of music here at SERMONS!: good and bad, and I have too much to do to waste time on bad music.
