Seriously, nothing I can say about this lovely little song is better than the story behind it and thankfully that’s been told for me in the link below. I highly recommend reading it if you’re into digging in deep, it’s a great article about why this kind of music archeology is so exciting.
But to sum it up: An unknown band drops into CREEM headquarters, leaves a record with no name or contact info, then disappears. Editor Ben Edmonds gives it to a local Detroit DJ, who plays it on the radio every night for a few weeks, asking anyone with info to call in.
No one ever does, and the record becomes a collector’s Holy Grail.
Listen to it. Outside the obvious Hendrix influence on the vocals, this song particularly feels like it exists in a time void. What year is it? 70s? 80s? I could easily see them as the local act on a bill with say, Nation of Ulysses or some early emo band. Even the photo of them looks out of time.
Anyway I’m mystified by this song, and it gets better each time I listen to it.
A great article on uncovering the mystery of Flying Wedge here

Not into this song? Stick around for the next one, it may be what you didn’t know you needed! Remember, there are only two genres of music here at SERMONS!: good and bad, and I have too much to do to waste time on bad music.
Really dig this song!!
