This song was released in 1974, on an album titled Fear. Forty-seven years later, nearing the end of it’s 87th session, the GOP-led Texas government is actually on track to pass legislation to allow “Constitutional (permitless) carry”.
Put more simply, if this were to pass, an individual carrying a handgun will NO LONGER REQUIRE A LICENSE. Or even gun safety training.
Yesterday, a person was shot at an intersection very close to where my mother lives. It’s being reported as a case of road rage, and one person was hospitalized, while another’s car took a few bullets. Suspect fled the scene. Earlier in the week, an elderly man was shot in front of his house after he was involved in a minor fender bender.
Many years ago, a roommate of mine was in a Chili’s parking lot after hours, with his cousin who was a server there, drinking crummy cheap beers with the staff. If you’ve ever worked at a restaurant like that, you’ve been at those nightly parking lot parties. As the story was told to me, someone that somebody knew showed up and somehow one of the staff got him to give up the keys to his car for a little parking lot rip. No biggie. But when he brought the car back, the owner’s little hot head friend hd taken umbrage at the situation. Alcohol plus Napolean Syndrome, great combo. A bit of shit talking, followed by a bit of shoving, then led to little man reaching under his shirt, revealing the grip of a pistol popping out of his waistband. He was lucky when he pulled it out that he shot himself in the foot, and not the more obvious elsewhere. I’m sure the immediate laughter of everyone who wasn’t him or his friend only made him feel dumber.
And that’s really it. This is D-U-M-B, dumb. The Sponsor of Bill 1927 is Charles Schwertner R-Georgetown and he is a fucking pandering idiot.
Nice track! As a nation, we are steeped in fear. Lousy with it. Pickled in it. The GOP squirts it out of their rancid teats and drowns us in it.
