Hello internet pals of music. Today we’re making a return to life with a child prodigy’s ode to the difficulty of distraction.
Recently, like, within the past few days, Sermons! made yet another cross-country move.
It has been suggested repeatedly that I rest. But, I’ve never been very good at resting. I’m fantastic at procrastinating, being lazy, and straight up goofing off—but not relaxing. Probably the worst at taking a vacation that I know.
SERMONS! is reader-supported. If you’re wishing to support my work, I encourage you to become a subscriber. Otherwise, we’ll both probably forget about this thing.
There’s so, so much to do. But sometimes, one must acknowledge the need for a pause. Take a beat. Sit out a measure. You can’t always be soloing. Plus, I guess as I send this it’s supposed to be a holiday or something.
But soon, I have to focus. This song will be my mantra. When you find yourself scattered, burnt-out, exhausted, please remember to take a beat. Drink some juice. Eat something good. See your family. Just sit in a chair for hours and fall asleep while reading. Pet a dog if you can find one.
And then, when you feel a bit more even keeled, CONCENTRATE.
SERMONS! is brought to you by Musik Klub. You can also find Jamie on Twitter and Instagram, if that’s your thing. Like what you’re hearing? Help spread the word!
