Hello internet pals of music. Today we’re late-night comin’ down with the conceptual alter-ego of the Dutch producer Bas Bron.
I love a good musical mystery and elaborate mythology.
It felt like an instant classic the first time I heard it, and it got stuck in my head for weeks. It’s such a confusing song—melancholic, yet uplifting and even reassuring even as the vocals are expressing doubt. A simple melody of complex emotions.
Maybe that’s just me.

But who is Fatima Yamaha?
To quote her bio:
She is not only the creator of this music, she is also the subject. Each song explores the concept, the life, the joys and struggles of a girl born between worlds…a young lady born to a Japanese father and a Turkish mother.
Except she really is a Dutch deejay and producer by the name of Bas Bron and there’s something brilliant about his music.
So this is what I’m sending you into the weekend with:
The freedom to invent yourself however you like and to exist between two worlds (or more).
