I started this playlist months ago. Was I feeling zugunruhe, preparing for galactic escape? Quite probable. Like Marshall Applewhite, aka Do of Heaven’s Gate, said, “Last chance to evacuate planet Earth, before it is recycled”…
Alien craft, spy balloon, it doesn’t really matter. What’s important is that if you make something and sit a while with it, the day may come where it is culturally relevant and then you can seem smart.
Well, he is from Saturn, so it counts! I mean, no other artist on this list is committed enough to come down from another planet...Dawn didn't quite fit but then I remembered something that did, so that's been added!
Probably Interstellar Overdrive from Pink Floyd's antique Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
I bought that album without knowing anything about it just because I admired the brocade jackets. I liked the band at first then got tired of their dreary ponderosity.
That's getting added to the list! I always liked Pink Floyd more as an idea, although there are a few albums I will occasionally listen to, like Meddle, but really I can take them or leave them.
Maybe Dawn by Sun Ra. A bit obvious and maybe not right for this but he got me back into free jazz imagining going to another planet.
