"Yet, doesn't my child represent the true ideal of "freedom?" She is living her own life and expressing her personal freedom, and she isn't treading on anybody else."

EXACTLY.

Living authentically is the most radically free thing a person can do—I dream of a world where, to paraphrase Funkadelic, we're free from the need to be free. Take care of yourself and those you love, your daughter, as well.

I love this Jamie, thanks for sharing part of your story for context. I have Trauma Zone queued up for watching. I am in my own trauma zone at the moment, trying to understand the motivations of so many voters who have thrown already vulnerable populations under the bus.

I don’t know if love is the right word, but you’ll SOMETHING TraumaZone. It helps me make sense of a lot of things—including a rebuke to the idea that liberalism had saved the world.

He creates a strange mutant of art film documentary that I’m alway up for—I think the strength of TraumaZone is the lack of his signature narration.

Brilliantly said, Jamie. Your point about the "Don't Tread on Me" saying and coiled snake flag is so fucking spot on. As a parent of a trans child, I worry about these people treading on her. Yet, doesn't my child represent the true ideal of "freedom?" She is living her own life and expressing her personal freedom, and she isn't treading on anybody else. However, these people are constantly treading on her and our LGBTQ+ community to the point of horrific violence and murder.

I went to bed on Tuesday to a very confusing world. I woke up on Wednesday to an even more confusing world. Thankfully, we have music and art to find solace and help tune out the fucking noise. A battle was lost, but the fight goes on. Take care of yourself and those you love, my friend.
