I first heard this song years ago, at 311 Club on 6th Street. A blues band covered it. I immediately thought, "What is that song??" When I got home that night, I searched until I found it. I can testify that it sounds great played on a Strat with bluesy leads.
I wonder if it was a regional hit? I first heard of it from a flyer for a 1989 Labor Day party sponsored by KAZI at Doris Miller Auditorium, featuring "Fli" Hamilton of Temple on sax!
Not sure. It's one of those songs that, as soon as I heard the chord progression and vocal melody, I got excited and had to know what it was. I really love discovering those vintage diamonds that I somehow missed.
